First of all, let me apologise for going on hiatus for quite some time now, but we were on a major mission revamping the website (hope, you like the result). Anyway, without further ado let me introduce you to one of my most talented friends, short-film director and connoisseur of all things fashion, Miss Emma Freed.
Emma Freed is a self-proclaimed
monster movie geek and fashion magazine junkie who currently produces fashion
films. A California native, the 21-year old moved to London in January of 2010
to study at the London College of Fashion. Now with a BA in Cinema Production
and an MA in Fashion and Film under her belt, Emma hopes to collaborate with
designers, stylists and makeup artists to produce captivating fashion-focused
short films.
Never one to take herself seriously,
Emma is drawn to the fun side of fashion and appreciates a sense of humor in
design, as in life. Animation has been a passion of hers since an early age and
this is something she aspires to incorporate in future fashion film projects.
Emma also enjoys fashion writing, and has blogged for fashion and film
blog Drooling Isn't Pretty since June of 2009.
Emma doesn’t have to look far for inspiration
for her projects as London is a never-ending source of it. The advantage of
being in London, she says, is being surrounded by fashion every day, on the
streets even more than in the stores. The specific garments for a project
provide inspiration as well, guiding every aspect of video production, from
model casting to the final soundtrack. The goal of fashion filmmaking for Emma
is expressing the personality of a collection, bringing the clothing to life in
a way that would be not possible in a static image.
As for fashion film in general, Emma
hopes to see the genre mature and include more traditional narrative elements
in the future.
