Hermes Pittakos: An Artist In The Make-Up World

published in: Make Up And Hair, 13 Dec 2012

One of the great things about fashion is that it brings together people from all kinds of background. What they all have in common  is creativity be it in dressmaking, photography, illustration or make up. Hermes Pittakos is one of those amazingly artistic people and his super power" is make up and prosthetics.

The Greek-Cypriot make-up artist recently graduated from London College of Fashion with a BA in Make-up and Prosthetics for Performance. Pittakos is mostly interested in Character Design and Creation, whether using Make-up and Prosthetics, Wig Making or a combination of all three. His focus is always on creating art that is both original and ethereal, a trait quite evident through his work.

"In the near future I would like to see myself in a big, interesting and creative environment where I can work along side other people with the similar interests, working towards something fantastical," Pittakos says of his aspirations and future plans. "I also want to move to the United states at some point for a short while, I have always had a fascination for America and something within me is drawing me towards there. Possibly to California…"

Here is a small sneak peek from Pittakos' most recent work, a short film called “HOLLOW BONE”. “HOLLOW BONE” follows a mysterious protagonist (Played by Ron Athey) on an exploration of the spirit and mind through a series of occult ritualistic scenes inspired by shamanic journeys and alternate states of consciousness.
